The Complete Collection Audiobook by L Frank Baum
To start, Id like to say that Eric Vincent the narrator perfectly captured the story and mood perfectly! He provided a wide variety of voices for every character.
Now for the book itself, it was a whopping 91 hours long. I would listen while cleaning, working and driving. Eager for the next story, as soon as the current one would end. Every character brought to life, by details, love, and creativity. From Dorothy & Toto, to the Scarecrow, to the woozy. Each with their own personality, adventure, and witty humor. To truly understand my review, I highly recommend checking out The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Complete Collection by L. Frank Baum.
I grew up watching The Wizard of Oz (1939), I loved the story and the whimsey of it all. I was recently recommended the compete collection and it was one of the best things I've ever done. This collection was published between 1900 and 1920 (2 years posthumously published) by L. Frank Baum. It also included The Royale Book of Oz posthumously published by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Who captured L. Frank Baum's voice perfectly.
Through the 22 book collection, my favorite characters were The Scarecrow, The Patchwork Girl, and Button Bright. Their whimsical attitudes and witty remarks made it all the better. When I first heard a rude remark, I had to rewind and listen again. I thought this was suppose to be light and airy and magical (how the movie makes it seem). I thought wrong. I smiled and laughed through out all their stories.
The Scarecrow, being a main character was a wobbly man with a mission in hand. He was humorous, bold, and very humble until it came to his brains. The patchwork girl, a doll brought to life, quickly became a major supporting character. Her sing song style was cheery or bold and always brought fun into the stories. Finally, Button Bright was a young boy who was always getting lost, and found, could be a nuisance. He was kind and always napping where ever he found himself, though it often times got him into trouble.
With all that being said, if you are looking for a longer book or audio book, I recommend The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Complete Collection by L. Frank Baum. It is light hearted and kid friendly and great for long car rides. If I didn't have an ever growing list of collections to listen to I would most definitely listen again.
