Mac and the shadow puppets

Hi my name is Mack. I'm a very pleasant boy or at least that's what my parents say.

At school no one likes me, they don't want to be my friend. They think I'm weird.

Everywhere I go, I don't have friends.

I used to have a friend that lived next door but mom said she had to go away.

Now I only have friends at home; My shadow puppets.

There is Mary, Angie, Carl, and Brad.

They talk and play with me. They make me happy.

They tell humorous jokes like...

Knock knock... Who's there... BOO... Boo who?... Don't cry it's only a joke!

That one always cracks me up!

Mary is my favorite because she reminds me of my old friend.

I've never showed anyone my shadow puppets. Maybe because I don't have anyone to show.

Angie is really good at listening to me, she's a cat.

Carl is the funny one and he's uncontrollable he's a dog.

Brad is a bunny and he loves to laugh at all of Carl's jokes.

Mary is a lama and she gives me good advice when I need it.

Today I saw a new car next door, that means a family moved in.

Dad said we're going to invite them to dinner. So I put on my best play clothes.

When they arrived, there was a mom, and behind her legs were bright orange pigtails.

I straightened and said, "Hi, my name is Mack"

The girl with the pigtails looked at me and said, "Hi, my name is Allison."

"Will you be my friend?" I asked.

She said, "I don't have any friends."

I grabbed her hand and pulled her upstairs to meet my shadow puppets.

One at a time, I introduced my friends. Angie, Brad, Carl and Mary.

"Angie is really good at listening to me, she's a cat."

"Carl is the funny one and he's uncontrollable he's a dog."

"Brad is a bunny and he loves to laugh at all of Carl's jokes."

"Mary is a lama and she gives me good advice when I need it."

Allison watched quietly as I was introducing my shadow puppets.

Allison put her hands up in the shape of a bird and said, "This is Mack, my new friend. He wants to also be friends with Angie, Carl, Brad, and Mary."
